Happiness is a byproduct of what you set as a goal… Being positive helps you achieve it!
Life is simpler than just being simple, and that is truer than true. It is the way we look at life and what we perceive. It is inevitable that challenges and setbacks keep crossing our way at every stage in life, and we’ve all received the well-being advice to ”stay positive”.The greater the challenge is, the more our glass-half-full wisdom can come across as “Unrealistic & Pollyannaish”. The biggest obstacle to positivity is that we focus on the threats more, because positivity seems like nothing more than a wishful thinking. So here’s another perspective of looking at life with positivity.
The world’s a stage, where we are protagonists of our own triumphant dreams. And this is how being happy or sad becomes a personal choice for all. We just have to find a way to know our goals and chase it, where obstacles and troubles are bound to be a part. We must learn to tackle them instead of avoiding. That’s when our life becomes free and peaceful. So how does this happen?
Whatever happens is an outcome of our thoughts and wishes. Positivity wins when we start practicing being positive and cultivate it.
Here are some good practices that can help us be positive:
Practice no. 1: Never Regret
We are not perfect, which is why we keep making mistakes time and again. While repeating a mistake isn’t a great way to go, but not being too harsh helps one retain much-needed positivity. Each mistake is an experience — it teaches us where we went wrong, a lesson that helps us avoid repeating it. Therefore, we shouldn’t regret the mistakes we make, the people we choose to be with or the choices that we make. They might not always work in our favour, but they always teach us something.
Practice no. 2: Spin Off Negativity With A Positive Thought
Negativity clouds our thought process, making us overthink situations. When we are in a negative frame of mind, everything people around us say or do becomes a potential conspiracy. This in turn makes us dislike people and situations, causing us, and people around us unwanted stress. So, it’s best to keep it simple and let things go with the flow.
Practice no. 3: Attitude Of Gratitude
How many times have we thanked our household help? How many times have we felt gratitude towards an auto driver? Maybe not too many times, because we tend not to think on these lines. Reality is, everybody around us plays a part in our day functioning smoothly. From our mothers who keep our tummies and hearts full, to our cab drivers who ensure that we make it to work on time, to the office boys who serve tea and snacks with a smile, let’s learn to appreciate their efforts and thank them whenever we can.
We should even thank our own body where we live all the time. We must learn to respect and love this marvel with gratitude. Thanking our body with hygiene, giving it proper exercise and good nutrition is all we need to do.
Practice no. 4: Shun The Screens – Restore Nature In Life
With the advent of technology, all of us are glued to our screens, so much, that we don’t even realise how much of nature we are missing out on. Instead of slouching on the beanbag and keeping track of the world on facebook, we should get up and take a walk in the park, listen to the chirping of the birds, read a book or just enjoy the sunset sometimes. Time spent in the midst of nature can help of de-stress and form a more positive attitude.
Practice no. 5: Respecting Relationships
More often than not, we take our relationships for granted. That’s not fair, and all of us do understand that. To be in a positive frame of mind, we need our relationships to be harmonious. That’s why, we should ensure that we respect our relationships, give them space and be available for them emotionally whenever needed.
With these best practices, we can adapt a healthy, positive lifestyle, that will go a long way in keeping us happy and satisfied.
